Jenifer Rodriguez-Alvarez

Director of Internship & Volunteers

From Ayden NC, with roots from Durango & San Luis Potosí Mexico, Jenifer serves as the Director of Internships & Volunteers, where she leads the recruitment and development of students from universities and community colleges across North Carolina. In her role, she provides students with meaningful professional growth, hands-on experience, and opportunities to engage in programs that support and uplift the Latino community. Jenifer first joined the organization as an intern in 2020 and transitioned into a staff role in 2021, shortly after graduating. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.S. in Public Health) — with a concentration in Community Health at East Carolina University. Driven by her passion for serving the Latino community, she is committed to creating pathways for students to access higher education, gain real-world experience, and grow as future leaders. Her own experience as an intern inspires her to ensure the program continues to open doors for others. She is especially proud of expanding the internship program to partner with additional universities across the state and successfully managing 5 to 8 interns each semester — spring, summer, and fall.
