AMEXCAN expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government of the State of North Carolina and to the mayors of Greenville, Kinston, Rocky Mount, Wilson, Winterville, Washington, and Raleigh for proclaiming and recognizing the period from September 15 to October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month. The organization notes that this recognition not only celebrates the historic, social, cultural, and economic contributions of the Hispanic community, but also strengthens unity and collaboration among the diverse communities that make up the state.
For more than 15 years, AMEXCAN has advocated for these proclamations, particularly in Eastern North Carolina, as a meaningful gesture of respect and appreciation for migrant and Latin communities who are fundamental to the state’s social, economic, and cultural life. Quoting Rodrigo Hebrard, Director of Communication and Public Relations, the release underscores that these recognitions are a key step toward visibility, inclusion, and appreciation of the Hispanic population and motivate continued work for families’ well-being, development, and integration. Throughout the month, AMEXCAN will promote educational, cultural, and community activities that highlight pride in Hispanic roots and the positive impact of the community in the region, while reaffirming its commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect.
