AMEXCAN Thanks Greenville Mayor for Proclaiming AMEXCAN Week

September 17, 2025

AMEXCAN expresses its deep gratitude to Greenville Mayor P.J. Connelly for proclaiming the week of September 15–19, 2025, as “AMEXCAN Week.” The organization notes that this recognition is not only an honor for AMEXCAN, but also a public acknowledgment of the Latin community as an essential part of the city’s and state’s social, cultural, and economic life. AMEXCAN highlights that this gesture reflects the trust and support of the community and strengthens their shared work to build a more inclusive, strong, and resilient Greenville.

The release recalls that AMEXCAN was founded in 2001 to support the Mexican and Latin community in North Carolina through education, health, cultural promotion, community development, and youth leadership programs. Over more than two decades, they have worked alongside local, state, national, and binational partners to make migrants’ contributions visible and create opportunities that positively impact the region. Quoting Rodrigo Hebrard, Director of Communication and Public Relations, AMEXCAN emphasizes that the proclamation honors the history, effort, and resilience of the Latin community and motivates them to continue raising their voices and working for a better future.
