AMEXCAN announces with great satisfaction that a group of elderly adults from Martínez de la Torre, Veracruz, traveled with the organization to Mexico City to process their U.S. visas and will soon reunite with their sons and daughters after more than 20 years apart. All participants in this journey were granted visas, offering renewed hope to families who have maintained long-distance ties for decades. The release emphasizes that this achievement is the result of AMEXCAN’s comprehensive accompaniment of migrant families, both in North Carolina and in their communities of origin in Mexico, strengthening its mission to promote family reunification and defend migrants’ rights.
The statement highlights individual stories, including Refugio Parra, who will see her son in Seattle after 21 years, and Victoria Martínez, who will reunite with her family after 22 years of absence—both expressing deep emotion and gratitude for AMEXCAN’s support. The organization underscores the importance of each life story and reaffirms its commitment to creating pathways of hope for families separated by migration. It also calls for stronger collaboration among organizations, institutions, and communities so that more Mexican families can reunite.
