Mission:

The mission of the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc., (AMEXCAN), is to promote the active participation of Mexicans and Latinos in their new communities and encourage the appreciation, understanding, and prosperity of the Mexican and Latino community through cultural, educational, health, law and leadership activities.

 

Who we are:

The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc., (AMEXCAN), is a non-profit organization founded in September 2001 . AMEXCAN was formed to support people in North Carolina who are from Mexico and/or Latin America. However, the director of the organization invites all residents of North Carolina to join or become a volunteer with AMEXCAN to enjoy the culture, values, and traditions of the Mexican and Latino people.

 

The objectives of the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc., (AMEXCAN), are:

 

CULTURAL:
To enrich and to promote the knowledge of the culture and the traditions and the customs of Mexico and Latin America in order to instill pride in Mexican and Latino heritage, as well as promote the appreciation and understanding of the culture of the Mexican and Latino people among all residents.

 

EDUCATIONAL:
To promote the recognition of the importance of education and similar vehicles on all levels to improve the quality of life. To promote the participation of parents in the scholastic activities of their children; as well as developing and supporting similar activities and programs that increases the level of education throughout the Mexican and Latino community.

 

LEADERSHIP:
To promote participation of Mexicans and Latinos in community issues; to support and to promote the development and intellectual growth of Mexican and Latino leaders in the state; and to promote the integration of Mexican and Latino leaders in local and state organizations that serve the Latino community.

 

ADVOCACY:
The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc., (AMEXCAN), makes advocating for our communities on the different topics or politics problems and the practices that affect peoples’ lives, in particular, the lives of the most unfavorable of persons.
